Demand for computing power is growing in exponential pace. Key indicator is the fact that CPUs are upgraded every year. Motherboards are pushing the limits of scalability, in terms of CPU quantity and system memory capacity. Explosion of high bandwidth interconnects are constantly outdoing the competition, i.e., Fibre Channel, Infiniband, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Last, but not least, storage devices are constantly upgrading its capacity and spindle speed to achieve the higher throughput and access time.

All of advancements, especially when packaged into a small form factor such as 1U or 2U chassis, make a very powerful and versatile computing system. With or without clustering tools, most 1U and 2U systems are now able to handle wide range of applications in both I/O intensive and CPU intensive segment.

These high performance systems are available either as fully configured systems or barebone systems (Motherboard, PSU and chassis). Higher the performance expectation, it is critical to keep the system running cool, thus, configuring a reliable high-performance system, by piecing components from various vendors is almost an impossible challenge to master. In addition, such attempt often results in higher cost to manufacture and time to configure. As a result, well tested, and well supported, barebone systems are the preferred choice for resellers and system integrators to add value and maintain competitive edge.

To the resellers and systems integrators, ideal server and workstation platforms are the ones that are reliable, packaged with advanced features often seen in fully configured Tier 1 systems, and easily accessible through distribution channel. This combination empowers the resellers and systems integrators to offer various flavors of computing systems while complete feature per feature with Tier 1 competition.

In light of above market conditions, challenges at hand to be solved are as follows:

- Well established distribution, support and service channel to easy access and quick service, virtually anywhere
