General Information

Ajman Free Zone was established in the Emirate of Ajman in 1988. Today, it accommodates over 9,000 registered companies representing more than 165 countries.

The free zone is notable for its simple and fast company registration process, advanced business services system, and low costs. An important logistical advantage of AFZ is its proximity to the Ajman seaport and Sharjah and Dubai international airports.

Specialisation

AFZ is a multi-disciplinary free zone which provides for 1,500 licensed economic activities.

The free zones’ strategic sectors include the auto market, innovations, the chemical industry, food and beverage, maritime activities, jewellery, paper and packaging, textiles, and trade.

Forms of Companies
  • Free Zone Establishment (FZE) – a company with a sole shareholder;

The free zone also offers offshore companies in Ajman as a separate option. Offshore companies are not considered free zone companies and may operate only outside the UAE.

Share Capital

The minimum share capital is AED 185,000 (around USD 50,000).

Foreign shareholders may own 100% of the company’s shares.

Physical Office

A company must have a physical office within the AFZ. The free zone offers a wide range of office spaces for companies and freelancers, including offices of various sizes and workplaces in coworking areas.

Financial Statements and Audit

AFZ free zone companies must keep accounting records and prepare financial statements. The annual financial statements must be audited by auditors authorised by the AFZA.

Taxation of Profits

Ajman free zone companies are subject to the UAE federal legislation on corporate taxation. Companies must register for corporate tax with the Federal Tax Authority and file tax returns.

Companies that are “qualifying free zone persons” are entitled to a zero corporate tax rate.

Annual Renewal

Ajman free zone company’s annual expenses include:

  • license renewal;
  • company’s establishment card renewal;
  • office or workplace lease extension;
  • preparation of financial statements and audits;
  • payment for the corporate service provider’s services.
Re-domiciliation

A foreign company may apply for re-domiciliation and continue its operations as a free zone company in AFZ.
